Dr. Arthen is a naturopathic doctor (ND), not a medical doctor (MD). Naturopathic medicine is not a medical specialty but a separate and distinct health care tradition.  Dr. Arthen graduated from an accredited four-year graduate program as a naturopathic doctor and is currently licensed in the state of Connecticut. In January 2017, Massachusetts passed a bill that will license naturopathic doctors. The process does take time, currently it is estimated that licenses will be available by Winter 2018.
